Guiding, Teaching, Climbing, Learning

Last week in Kentucky…

Quick post here from the Red River Gorge. It’s our last week and I’m being honest when I say that I’m glad for it. I’m tired of many many climbing days and always barely balanced by one singular rest day. The climbing keeps getting harder as we push ourselves more because, of course, we’re fitter. something is missing here though, maybe fear maybe commitment maybe some more unknown variables that allow us to dig into deeper parts of ourselves up there on the wall. There’s some deep messages coming from Will and Sonnie’s quest up on The Prophet on El Cap right now. Preservation of the unknown and Leo Houlding’s ability to craft a life changing experience for himself even as his vision of the entire enterprise changed.

Can’t wait to head home and add another level to all this gymnastics we’re pursuing down here. Not to slag the Red, honestly. The aesthetic of the stone alone here is enough for me-for a time…
